Excellent idea Randy! I unfortunately, will be traveling incognito or in disguise when I venture into the beautiful metropolis of LOUISVILLE these days for a past transgression I committed in another thread. I will be wearing bright red all over, including my undies, to signify my undying love for the Cardinals. :)

Also driving down Sat morn but heading home that night under cover of darkness. U2U me. ;)

I believe you can buy them at the door EZGO. I seem to recall buying them in years past. Sorry don't know cost.

(IF you know one of the vendors real well, i.e. a past customer, they usually have VIP pass they will give you.)

Louisvile Home and Garden show is at same place same time. We may try to hit both. I think Louisville has a game on Saturday so watch out for extra traffic and a shortage of parking places.

It's senior day as well at UL of parking could be difficult. Tip, check the expo website for events so you'll have a heads up on parking before you go.

There is a UofL game and it is, as mentioned earlier, Senior Day, as well as the last game for UofL in Freedom Hall (new arena next year). As far as attendance, it is still sold out every game. But the last game there will be a big affair and it is also against the Nr 1 team, who UofL beat earlier in the year. Bottom line, there will be a crowd.

Game time 2:00 PM

Went today. Wasn't disappointed and was disappointed. The boats that were there were beautiful but way too expensive. It was sad not seeing some of the some of the other builders that used to be in the show. Lot's of information in the booth areas.

Went Friday...ditto your comments Libertybelle! $15 is a bit much plus $6 to park.:o

Neat new design things:;)
Sharpe's new 2 pc. front wrap around windows.
Sharpe's interior design scheme on the $647k(!) boat.
Destination/John Sturgell cat hull design and also new roof railing design.

Here's a thought: name tags for LC.com folks w/ our 'handle.'

I liked seeing the boats that were there, but disappointed in the number of boats. those that are there were great to visit. Guess my problem is remembering seeing the entire South Wing filled with boats. Still, all in all, enjoyed being there.

If the sales at the show aren't really good, I'd say this will be our last year to have a houseboat show. It costs a lot of money to bring those boats up there and with only so few, I'm really concerned about the future. Hopefully our economy will improve and help keep this from happening.

Horizon sold one of their showboats at the show. I think I heard the Stardust was already sold.

Houseboat Show

We went Friday to avoid the Saturday congestion. The Sharpe and Stardust were the barsetters for pushing the envelope for design. Thoroughbreds insulated glass front was a nice for style and function and We Liked the way they incorporated a water closet in the master bath . The Stardust's electronics which enabled you to control much of the lighting heat and cool among other functions from your I phone was impressive as well. I was dissapointed that Lakeview and funtime ,Sunstar, never bothered to bring a boat. I stopped by the Funtime booth a couple of times and did not see anyone working their booth .
With the current market as it is now I cannot see how they can have two houseboat shows a year. Holding the inwater show at State Dock makes perfect sense for all the manufactures .

We went Sat. and it seemed that foot traffic at the show was good. I was also wondering about the profitability for builders so I asked John Gregory GM for Stardust and he told that as of Sat. at noon they had 4 what he called "serious inquries" and of that 4 they normally build 2 boats. If better times they would sell 2 to 3 times that. Also spoke to owner of Sunstar and he estimated it cost 25 to $30,000 to have a boat at the Louisville show. It just didn't make good sense for him.

The in water show certainly makes more sense for all. If the weather co-operates better this year the crowds at State Dock will be huge!

I did not mind the $15.00 ticket price for me to bad but the $10.00 for a 10 year old was pretty outragious, they must want to discourage children but it may be the children who convince the parents to buy a particular boat.

I have always liked the boats that Destination Yachts bring and this years boats (3) did not disappoint. I think that their fit and finish are as good as any and their interior design is very nice but not gaudy and pretentious like some of the boats.

I liked the top rail and the new hull design. My favorite thing about their boats is the finish of the exerior fiberglass. Most of the other boats had the common rough finish where you can see the fibers in the fiberglass but the Destination boats are as smooth as glass.

I was told that their biggest boat was going to go to LFM if it was not sold. That would be a great place to see a beautiful boat.

It's possible that you are mistaken. This is from their website:

"Ownership/Management
Destination Yachts is privately owned by company president Sheldon Graber. Management staff includes Purchasing/Materials Manager John George, and Natalie Smith in Accounting, Web Design by Stetson Graber."

I understand John is using Destination Yachts as his builder for boats that he designs & sells.

I heard the same rumor as xburnside. Supposedly, John S. is not an owner but a builder/rep. Selling boats he helps to design and build.
Don't think he is an owner... but again that's rumor.

Lot of rumors flying around also when former head of Sumerset Houseboats Steve Lochmueller showed up on Stardust Houseboats with a Stardust logo shirt. As I posted previously, he and Bill Jasper are good friends. Supposedly, he will also be working as a part time sales rep for Stardust.... but again that's still in the planning stages and things do change.
